Fine Art Horse Equine Photography featuring Lusitano Stallion Portraits.

new equine fine art horse equine photography featuring Lusitano Stallion portraits

Awesome new fine art equine photography of some amazing Lusitano Stallion horses. I photographed these fine looking horses as fine art and for my commercial work as well. Photoshoots like these are a tremendous amount of work, but the results make the effort worth while.  There’s more in the series on my commercial site that you can see here.

White / Gray Arabian Horse Dancing, a fine Art Equine Photograph

1st place award for Cam the Arabian in side pass and one my favorite equine photographs.

White / gray Arabian horse dancing, a fine art equine photograph of a striking horse named Cam in side pass. This is one of my all time favorite fine art equine photographs, the moment when this image was captured, everyone on-set took a gasp, the horse and owner were sync as if they dancing in a ballet, a truly a lovely moment.

Equine Fine Art Photograph of Bugs the Horse For Coup Detat.

Not just for hay.

I was recently asked to photograph a horse inside a showroom, the client, Coup d’tat, is an interior design showroom that features an visual ethic that I like to  call ‘steampunk meets industrial design chic’. However, while the white bookshelf in the image is more Kubrik than Steampunk, I feel the the over look of the showroom is still fitting of my description.

The shoot was for an ad featured in California Home and Design and Chrysta Giffen of CG retouching did an outstanding job combing three variations into one final image. Great work Chrysta!

If the term Steampunk doesn’t ring a bell, one of favorite all time movies, ‘City of Lost Children’, is a good example as are the visuals described by the 18th century science fiction author, Jules Verne. My client wanted to feature the white bookshelf unit, one of a pair, that were custom built in the 80’s for the Macy family. The one of kind pair of bookshelves have a $300,000 price tag and it was obvious that Bugs, the horse, sincerely appreciated his fancy feeder..

And a behind the scenes video of the photo shoot as well can be seen here.

I’m very pleased to have an image chosen as best of show in the upcoming APA/SF holiday exhibit and party!
This image is of Neo, the Trakehner, in a gracious bowing pose and a good to know side note is that white horses are actually referred to as Grey.

The show takes place on December 3 at Left Space Studios – Stay tuned for more information on that. The night brings in 1200 people, if its not raining. It’s the largest SF photo and supporting industry gathering of the year and I’ve got a grateful warm fuzzy for being selected Best of Show… I’d like thank the academy…

I have 2 other images in the show, one of which placed 2nd or 3rd too, nice!
You can see my other equine photography here.

Dog leads to horses

It’s great how life creates new passion directions.

Since getting a dog 2 years ago, I’ve found myself taking pictures of other dogs as well as mine, many of which have have worked their way into my portfolio – with a few dog related jobs along the way : )

Now horses are entering the sphere of influence. Learning to photograph such majestic creatures has certainly upped the anti in the skill level department. This has been a fun and exciting time. Shown below are some early edits, I’m not so into the mottled backdrop so I’ll be tweaking those a bit to find the sweet spot.
